At the end of June, Verbio SE, in collaboration with the food wholesaler and logistics company Transgourmet, opened a new organic CNG filling station in Riedstadt, Hesse. With this site, the companies are expanding the infrastructure for climate-friendly logistics in the Rhine-Main region.

The refuelling station is located on Transgourmet’s premises, where around 40 CNG lorries are already in operation. According to the company, this ensures a high level of utilisation. At the same time, the plant is also available to external users and is thus intended to promote the use of biomethane in regional freight transport.

Verbio produces the biomethane used from agricultural waste and, according to its own statements, covers the entire value chain from production to the supply of the fuel. The expansion of the refuelling station network is intended to further improve the availability of climate-friendly fuels in heavy goods transport.

Claus Sauter, Chairman of the Board at Verbio, emphasised that heavy goods transport is already able to make a significant contribution to climate protection today. The prerequisites for this are a reliable fuel supply and the further expansion of the relevant infrastructure.
